When we first got married, Clint would always rant and rave about how his grandma made the best beef stroganoff. He would tell me how when he was little she would always make a big dish of it and it was his all time favorite. 🥰
I knew I had big shoes to fill with this…
Especially because beef stroganoff wasn’t gluten free naturally with the normal ingredients. I knew this was a dish I was determined to make just like he remembered it, plus make it gluten free so our whole family could enjoy it.
Challenge accepted….
It took a couple failed attempts (pretty much everything new in the kitchen being made gluten free has to have a few failed attempts), but I finally nailed it!
In our house the birthday girl/boy always gets to choose all the meals for the day. On Clint’s birthday he always chooses beef stroganoff… that’s how I know it was a success!
If you are gluten free and looking for a good beef stroganoff recipe, I have you covered…
Gluten Free Beef Stroganoff
Materials
- 1-1.5 lbs Beef Stew Meat
- Garlic Salt to taste
- 2 TBSP Olive Oil
- Pepper to taste
- 2 TBSP Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 Can Gluten Free Cream of mushroom soup I use my cream of anything powder with beef broth.
- 1 Cup Beef Broth (more if gets to thick)
- 2 TBSP Corn Starch
- 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
- Gluten Free Pasta or Rice to serve
Instructions
- Add olive oil and meat seasoned with garlic salt and pepper in a pan. Cook on medium until cooked all the way through.
- Add cream of mushroom and Worcestershire sauce to the meat.
- Mix beef broth and cornstarch together and pour over the meat in pan. Cook on medium/high until starts to thicken. Add more beef broth if it gets too quick too fast.
- Once the gravy is thick enough, turn off heat and add in sour cream.
- Serve over cooked pasta or rice!
I have also thrown all the ingredients in a crockpot (except the noodles) and it made a very easy dinner on a busy night! I just boiled the noodles when we got home and topped it with the meat and gravy. Delicious!
