Oh the smell of all things cinnamon, apple, spices, and pumpkin! Fall is just about here and this homemade pumpkin spice coffee creamer is the first thing on my  list to make.

Fall is my absolute favorite season. I love the crisp air, the wonderful colors, the yummy smells, but one of my favorite things is all the pumpkin flavor treats! If you missed it, go check out my top 3 pumpkin treats I like to make during the fall months.

Pumpkin pies, pumpkin spice muffins, pumpkin bread, and my favorite of all a pumpkin spice latte! I used to love when the Coffee Mate brand of pumpkin spice creamer came out every year. I would get all giddy when I would first see it in the grocery store and always buy a large bottle. It was my favorite way to drink my coffee during the fall months.

But when I started this health journey quite a few years ago, coffee creamers were one of the first things to go. The ingredients on regular creamer were questionable and I knew I wanted to try and stay away from fillers and artificial flavors. So I ditched them.

It didn’t bother me to stop buying coffee creamers throughout the year, but the store-bought pumpkin spice creamer I was really missing. I always waited for it to hit the store shelves when the first hint of fall arrived. It was like my own little coffee shop in my kitchen, that I waited all year long for.

Making my own coffee creamer.

That’s when I decided I needed to try making my own coffee creamer using natural ingredients. A creamer that uses real pumpkin puree, heavy cream, and whole milk. A homemade coffee creamer that would give me all the flavors of pumpkin that I could enjoy without the added junk in it.

This pumpkin spice creamer recipe does just that!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4-1 cup whole milk
  • 1 TBSP pure pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup or to taste
  • 1 tsp pumpkin spice blend or to taste

How to make pumpkin spice coffee creamer:

  1. Add all ingredients into a wide mouth quart mason jar.
  2. Use an immersion blender and slowly blend all ingredients until it starts to thicken slightly. You can also use a  whisk and whisk briskly for about 1-2 minutes. You want your cream to become slightly whipped cream.  This makes for a thicker consistency in your homemade creamer!
  3. Leave in the glass mason jar or pour into this flip top bottles for easy pouring and storage. Store in the fridge for 2-3 weeks.
  4. Make sure to give the creamer a good shake before each use as the ingredients will settle and separate when it sits in the fridge.

This homemade pumpkin spice creamer gives you all the feels of warm spices and pumpkin flavor. It uses simple ingredients that are natural and you know what they are. Add a slice of pumpkin bread or pumpkin muffin and you have a perfect pair.

Can I make this dairy free?

I have never tried this recipe with dairy-free ingredients. I have never had to be dairy free. However, if you need to be dairy free this is what I would do.

Use coconut cream in place of the heavy cream and any non-dairy milk substitute of your choice. Some options would be coconut milk, unflavored almond milk, unsweetened cashew milk or oat milk. These are all good options to make a dairy-free pumpkin spice creamer.

However, if you don’t need to be dairy free, I highly recommend using full fat dairy products. It will taste better and contrary to what people think, they are healthier for your body too!

Can I use this creamer in iced coffee?

I like hot coffee all year long. Yes, even when it is 100 degrees outside I still prefer my coffee hot in the mornings.

But what if you are someone who likes cold coffee drinks?

Don’t fret. This pumpkin spice coffee creamer works great in an iced coffee. There isn’t anything you need to change to get the same great taste. Just simply add ice to your coffee and the creamer. Give it a good stir and you are set to go!

Now go snuggle up on the couch with a good book, a nice comfy blanket, and a steaming hot cup of coffee with this delicious pumpkin spice creamer in it. You won’t be disappointed!

Happy almost Fall everyone!
