Homemade snacks with a little kick of sweetness are my jam. This maple cashew trail mix is a perfect addition to add to your pantry shelf when you are looking something salty and sweet.
I usually try and take one day a week and prep all kinds of good healthy snacks to get us through the week…. This helps us to stay on track to keep good wholesome foods in our bodies and harmful ingredients out.
We don’t always eat only healthy foods, but we try and do the best we can. That way when we do want to indulge on something unhealthy, it’s a treat!
If you are stuck on what to have ready as healthy snacks, here are some ideas of healthy snacks I try and keep on hand.
Maple cashew trail mix is simple to make, you can buy the ingredients in bulk on Azure Standard, and it gives you a little sweet kick if you are like me and get cravings from time to time for something sweet!
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups raw cashews (unsalted and unroasted)
- 1/2 cup 100% pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chocolate chunks (the darker the chocolate the healthier. You can get dairy free chocolate chunks if needed!)
- 1/2 Cup craisins or raisins
- 1/2 Cup Pumpkin Seeds
- 1/4 Cup Coconut Flakes or coconut chips (unsweetened)
How to make maple cashew trail mix:
- Preheat oven to 325°. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Put cashews on baking sheet and pour maple syrup over it. Then sprinkle salt on. Mix together so all the cashews are evenly coated.
- Bake in oven for 7 minutes. Stir it up and bake another 7 minutes.
- While the cashews are baking, add rest of the ingredients into a large bowl.
- Let cashews cool completely (so you don’t melt your chocolate chips) and add them to the bowl. Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container in the pantry
The maple-glazed cashews in this maple cashew trail mix is the star of the show. A healthy snack that is also delicious is a must in my kitchen and this trail mix hits all the marks.
And just like most of my recipes you can change it up with adding different things to this mix. Try adding some chia seeds, sunflower seeds, or your favorite nuts. Of course my girls always love the chocolate chunks in it but you can change that out too if you don’t want chocolate in your trail mix.
Make sure to always have some of this delicious trail mix on hand so when cravings strike you have a healthy alternative. Enjoy!
