When I started this journey, I really had no idea the things I would be able to make. The things that can easily be made in your own kitchen with ingredients you already have. This simple seasoned salt has become a staple in my recipes and it takes no time to make!
I use to run off to the grocery store every time I needed anything. Including spices.
I thought I was doing good by buying the big bulk taco seasoning and garlic salt, until I realized how easily I can make my own homemade version of both of them. There was no reason I needed to be buying them already pre-made.
I could buy bulk spices and then make up my own taco seasoning and garlic salt blend for pennies. Along with it saving me a trip to the grocery store.
I was hooked!
Having homemade spice blends on your shelf is just another cost-effective way to save money at the grocery store.
Now I am constantly thinking about what other blends can I make to add to my spice cabinet. My own version of seasoning salt was next on the list and since has become a large ingredient in many of my recipes.

I like to use these salt shakers to store my seasoned salt in. I store one with my seasoned salt and the other with regular sea salt. That way they can easily be added to any recipe. You can simply just use a mason jar with a lid and ring if you don’t want to buy anything.

Ingredient List:
- 1 cup sea salt
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp celery seed
- 2 tsp dry mustard powder
- 1 TBSP onion powder
- 2 TBSP paprika
- 2 TBSP garlic powder
How to make simple seasoned salt.
- Use a small bowl.
- Add all ingredients to the bowl and mix well.
- Store in an airtight container. Keeps for 6 months to a year.
This recipe can be halved if you don’t want to make so much at one time. Or can easily be doubled or tripled so you can have it for a long time! No need for more work down the line.
The great thing about making your own seasoning blends is you know you are not getting any unwanted additives.
I like to make sure we are using ingredients in their rawest form. There are so many things that have unnecessary additives in it or they add white sugar to. One of those being spice blends. The best way to avoid this, is to make your own!
By making my own seasoning blend, I know exactly what’s in it. There is nothing added that doesn’t need to be there!
How to use this simple seasoned salt.
In everything!
Ok maybe not everything, but I seriously use it all the time. I find that I use it to season meats, in my hamburger mix, on chicken breasts, along with on sides like french fries, potato wedges, and roasted potatoes.
Use this homemade seasoned salt recipe to rub down a big ol’ prime rib, rack of ribs, or brisket and you will find you hardly need any other spices.
My oldest daughter’s favorite way is to add it to her veggies as a perfect finishing touch, especially root vegetables.
Honestly you can add it to any of your favorite foods! Just add this simple seasoned salt in place of salt and your you will have the most delicious dish.
I love that it adds so much extra flavors to your dishes. It gives you a tad more punch to your bite that good ol’ salt doesn’t give you. We love salt around here, so plain salt is good. But I think the seasoned salt is even better!

Simple seasoned salt blend to use on meats, potatoes, or any dish you desire.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sea salt
