You know that feeling…. That feeling when you walk into your kitchen and your foot sticks to the floor? You aren’t sure if its spilt lemonade, dried on syrup from yesterday’s (or last weeks) breakfast, or just the reminiscence of a kitchen floor being lived on very well!
Whatever that gunk is, and no matter how long it has been sitting there (no judgement here because I have been known to have a sticky floor for weeks before getting around to actually mopping!), I have the perfect natural mop solution for you! And the BEST part is, most everyone reading this, will have all the ingredients right in your house!

What I learned a while ago was, stop buying expensive natural cleaning products from the store! When I started this journey I would go to Target and buy whatever cleaners I could find that were natural, because they surely had to have less chemicals then the other stuff. But in reality, I was just wasting my money. There are so many ways to naturally clean your house and you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg to do it!
Now I will be the first to admit that I don’t mop my floor nearly as often as I should… especially with the amount of traffic that hits my floor. But I will say that when I do mop it, I love that this mop solution is safe, effective, and smells so good!!
Here is what you need:
½ cup white vinegar
2.5 cups warm water
7 drops lemon essential oil
3 drops purify essential oil
3 drops tea tree oil
Just mix all ingredients in whatever container you are using to mop. Below is the link of the mop I use. So, the above measurements fits perfectly in this size container, which holds a total of 22oz. I love this mop and have been using it for a couple years now! I don’t have to go out and buy anything special to mop my floors. Everything is reusable and I can add whatever I would like to my solution holder!
Now definitely feel free to play around with the essential oils and adjust to your liking of smell. I always want to hide the vinegar smell, so I make sure to add enough oils to do that. Also, I like my house to have a fresh lemon scent when I’m cleaning so I add more lemon then all the other oils.
Remember that tea tree oil is great for antibacterial, so I always add that in. This way I know I am disinfecting my floor. Purify is a specific oil blend by doTerra that does exactly what its name says, purifies. So, I like to add that in for good measure!
Here are some other ideas of oils that would smell good too:
-Lavender
– wild orange
– on guard
– lemongrass
– spearmint
Again, play around with it and see what smells you like. I would highly recommend reading up on different oils and what their purpose is, to see which ones you would want to add or remove!
Now let’s whip out that mop, mix this quick solution up and let’s get our floors sparkling clean… If you do it, I will! 😉
