Do you find yourself throwing out pieces of bread because they are going stale or just aren’t as soft as they were before? Or maybe no one in your family will eat, what we call the “butt” of your loaf of bread? How about some cornbread muffins that lingered after dinner for a few days and your getting ready to throw them out?

Before you throw away any bread just STOP! Don’t throw it away because it can be remade into something delicious….

Now before you think I have lost my marbles and your ready to unfollow me completely… let me explain.

I am not talking about moldy bread here. I am talking about bread that is not as soft and enjoyable as it was when you first made it or bought it. And if you made it, then making breadcrumbs to save these littles precious pieces is all the more important. I mean if you go through all the work to make bread, you should enjoy all of it and not throw anything away!

So, here is what I want you to do…. Every time you have some left over bread, bread starting to go stale, or even the butts of a loaf that no one will eat, just throw it in a Ziploc bag and put it in your freezer. Once you have enough saved up in your bag in the freezer, you are ready to make something delicious.

Breadcrumbs!

If you are gluten free you know how expensive breadcrumbs are at the store. And if you are like me and wanting to know exactly what is in your food, then homemade breadcrumbs are definitely the way to go!

It is so easy and tastes so much better than the store-bought ones. I will say, I always try and get a few gluten free cornbread muffins in my bag of frozen stale bread because they give breadcrumbs the BEST flavor!

The best apart about making your own breadcrumbs is you can use ANY bread you have. I always save everything! Biscuits, cornbread, sandwich bread, baguettes, you name it! Each type of bread brings its own flavor and it is better than anything you can get at the store!

Who knew stale bread could be so delicious?! 😊
